John has also written a chapter in the premier college textbook “Television Field Production and Reporting” by Frederick Shook, and will be co-author in the next edition.

John also is featured in the new college textbook "Roll! Shooting TV News" by Rich Underwood, which focuses on stories and experiences of industry experts.

For 15 years, John DeTarsio worked for five news stations as a photographer, editor, and on-air reporter. At NBC 7/39 in San Diego, he became Executive Producer of Creative Development, before becoming a freelance photographer and consultant.

As a consultant, John works with national and international television photographers, editors, reporters and managers, sharing his passion: Visual Storytelling. John’s seminars and workshops cover everything from shooting and editing techniques, to writing and producing compelling stories.
